Lack of magistrates’ court rooms in Lancashire has resulted in a private hire driver having his appeal against the immediate revocation of his PHV driver’s licence being delayed until September 2, 2019 as that was the earliest date the court could accommodate the matter at any of Lancashire’s remaining magistrates’ court.

Commenting on the delay, James Parry said “It is extremely unfortunate that under the current government’s stewardship half of the magistrates’ courts in England and Wales have been closed. The consequence is that court users are forced to travel greater distances to court, as their case could be listed anywhere in the County and have to wait longer for their cases to be resolved. The consequence is that justice is being denied and for many driver’s in the same situation
